Inline vs. Account-based Registration: Part 1 Oct 17, 2010
With DW Event you can choose between two different types of registration: inline and account-based. Both respond to different needs, depending on your audience: either one-time only participants, or return attendees.
Inline registration refers to a registration process that does not require the creation of a personal user account. It is useful for organizations or companies who host events that anticipate one-time only attendees, and therefore will not benefit from the additional time and information-gathering required for account-based registration. The inline registration does not require a login with password, and it faster and more streamlined than the account-based registration. However each end user will need to enter their personal information and credit card data when they process a registration payment.
Account-based registration is the default process for DW Event. This is the better option if your organization presupposed repeat attendees or a generally stable public for its events and communications. It requires all online event registrants to create an account within your organization's customized DW Event system. This account is then accessed by logging in with the user's email address and password, and the user's essential information is captured in an online database including name, contact, and other data that can be custom-defined by your organization.
Each time end users return to register for future events, all they need to do is login and their credit card and personal information will already be captured, saving them the time required for entering in all this data once again. It is also useful for maintaining ongoing communications and marketing efforts such as email blasts, promotions, reminders, surveys, and more.
